waking up

oh what a way
to start a subliminal
day your voice
crinkling in my ear
asking if i was sleeping
then if i was lying
which i was of course
a couple administrative
tasks self-explanatory
and the disbelief when
you said is this really
all i called you for 
i long to wake up
laughing and this
morning's premonition
motions to me
the way it could be
if that's the sort of
rise our sunrise may
bring i'll wait 'till
may and beyond
for you to wake up
beside me smiling
