The New Guy

Cold coffee, long ignored.
What a bored, sluggish server
Tripping over his own words.

He's learned the ways
From the book,
From the oral tradition,

From snide co-servers that
Trip him by the swinging door.
He takes your order from the floor.

Give him something simple,
A belgian waffle or something.
Let ants carry it in on a tray,

So that you might not blame him
If he is late.
Do not blame him if you must wait.

He is teaching you a lesson:
To drink your coffee,
To taste what it's like to have no friends.
